Rate Payers meeting
held Tues., May 4th, 2010 with 32 members of the United Communities present – Chair Art Fielding, Vice Chair – Dave Porteous
- Budget for year 2010-2011 was approved – Tax rate – 10 cents per $100.00
- Eric Hustvedt brought greeting from our Mayor and Council -Eric congratulated the Brigade, Volunteers and Commissions
- Building Report – kitchen & bathroom update
- Nominations for commissioners for the next three years are as follows:
Wayne Smith, Harry Smith and Goldie Fownes - New Fire Truck report tabled – ‘New Fire-Truck Funding Gauge’ board displayed-with KUDOS to Chris and Granville
Fire Chief’s Report:
- Wayne Smith
- Fire Calls – one Pole Fire, one Chimney Fire
- Sixteen Medical Calls
- Seven Mutual Aid Calls
- Three False Alarms – Total Emergency Calls – Twenty-seven
- Regular Practices – nine
- Reduced Speed Past Emergency Responders Legislation – police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency personnel are put at risk everyday when stopped on the road – this law will help protect emergency responders
Young at Heart Senior Club:

- Social Outings were reported
- Dinner functions and general activities were reported
- Thursday night at the Movies – actively attended
- Community Kiosk – great initiative – thx to construction team
